TAXATION & OVER TAXATION OF MATERNITY BENEFITThis post will help you understand how Maternity benefit is taxed in different situations and explains why in some cases it is inevitable that women returning to work following maternity leave will be overtaxed. The process is very complex and difficult for most people to get their head around. I have created a video to explain this and I will put the link in the comment. The items discussed in this video are:1. The annualisation process for reducing Tax Credits and the standard rate tax band.2. Under taxation and over taxation during maternity leave.3. Returning to work following maternity leave.4. Tax Credit Certificates with Maternity Benefit reductions.5. Payroll calculations.6. Maternity Benefit payments spanning over 2 tax years.7. Maternity Benefit Payments to singly and jointly assessed PAYE employees.8. Department of Social Protection Maternity Benefit Application Forms.9. Duration of Maternity Benefit the standard rate payable and the payment date.
