a up Sbd Shr DEATHS Nina States Nina States, 56, widely known Harrah's employe and widow of Reno advertising pioneer States, died in Reno Friday. Mrs. States was honored at. a large Harrah's retirement party April 18. She worked the club for 16 years.

She started as a PBX operatorjof in 1957, worked 1 in the public relations department for several months, then transferred to typist in the same department. She became a personnel seeretary in 1958 and later changed to publication secretary. After a medical leave of absence, she returned as a senior clerk in the automotive department. She changed to senior clerk in sales in 1970. Her husband died two years ago.

He was owner of States Advertising Agency in Reno. He established his agency in Reno in 1946. He was also with Wallie Warren and Associates. States had a long-standing interest in antique automobiles. He and his wife were coeditors of the "Steering Column," official publication of the Horseless Carriage Club.

They were charter members of the Nevada chapter. Mrs. States grew up in Carson City where she was graduated from high school. She was graduated from the University of Nevada in 1938. She lived in Washington, D.C., from 1937 to 1945 when she moved to Reno.

She was married to States in Washington in 1939. Survivors include a son, Tom 0. States of Reno; a daughter, Linda C. States of Eugene, father, R. C.

Boczkiewicz of Seattle; brother, Bill Boczkiewicz of Seattle; sisters, Helen Smith of El Reno, and Mary Sanger of Redwood City, and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Walton Funeral Home in Reno. Margot Stirling Margot E. Stirling, 59.

280 Island Reno, died Thursday in Tijuana, Mexico. A resident of Nevada 50 years, she was born in Manila, Philippines on March 11, 1914 to J. M. Menzie and Bertha E. Schill-' ing.

Survivors include her husband, Ian Stirling of Reno; a brother, Brig. Gen. Hans M. Menzi of Manila; and a sister Bertha M. Merchant of Carson City.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Walton Funeral Home in Reno. Cremation will be held at the Mountain View Crematorium. Maria Lucchetti Maria S. Lucchetti, 89, 1145 Huffaker Lane, died at her home Saturday.

A native of Stockton, she was born Dec. 22, 1883. A housewife, she had lived in the area for three years. She was a charter member of Vittoria Colonna Club San Francisco and the San Francisco League of the Hard of Hearing. Surviving are her son, Dr.

Francis Lucchetti of Foster City, daughter, Alberta Schwengber of Reno: eight grandchildren, five-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Requiem Mass was celebrated Monday in the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, San Franfisco. Entombement was in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. O'Brien Rogers and Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Emil Kalbhen Emil Kalbhen, 70, 1140 Jones died in a local hospital Sunday. A native of Lichtenau, Germany, he was born July 14, 1903. A Reno resident since 1962, he was the owner of the Shoe Repair Shop. Surviving are his widow. Anne Kalbhen of Reno: sister, Regina Ginder of Denver, and one niece.

A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Walton Funeral Home in Reno. Burial will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery. Jason Vetter Mason Paul Vetter, 15-week-old son of Rebecca Vetter of Weed Heights, died at a Reno hospital Saturday. The child was born April 7, 1973 in Yerington.

Besides his mother he is survived by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Andre Lay of Weed Heights. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Mountain View Cemetery in Reno.

Status Goes To Reno Doctor Reno Band Begins Concerts At Virginia Lake Dr. H. Treat Cafferata of Reno has been awarded diplomate status by the American Board of Surgery. The honor signifies successful completion of comprehensive oral and 1 written examinations required for certification by the board.

A specialist in general and vascular surgery, Cafferata was the recipient in 1967 of a Bay Area Heart Association re search fellowship for surgical research on blood coagulation in trauma. He completed the research in 1968 at San Francisco General Hospital while a surgery resident at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco. He is the author and co-author of six scientific papers resulting from the research program. A native of Reno, Cafferata attended Billinghurst Junior High School and graduated from Menlo School. Menlo, Calif.

Burke and Knobel Mortuary. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Mark Shipley Mark A. Shipley, 61, a former Reno resident was killed Saturday in a light airplane crash near Prospect, Ore. The pilot was also killed.

Shipley moved to Reno in 1938 and worked at the University of Nevada Experimental station. He then was the head of the Department of Range Management for four years, before resigning in 1951. He then owned and operated the Shipley Dental X-Ray Laboratory in Reno, from 1951 to 1964. In 1965 he moved to Prospect. Shipley was a charter member of the Washoe Horseman's Association, longtime member of the Nevada White Hats, active in horseman's associations in the Reno area and was involved in real estate developments and ranching in Reno and Prospect.

A native of Bancroft, Idaho, he was born Nov. 1, 1911. He was a graduate of Utah State Agriculture College at Logan in 1938, with a B.S. in forestry. Surviving are his widow, Marjorie of Prospect; brothers, Roy of Malad, Idaho and Mike of Lava Hot Springs, Idho; daughter, Gayle, Newton of Pike Road, and son, Rodney of Reno.
